Kyriakos Barber Shop is an old barber shop with a rich history, originally established in 1978 by the current owner's father. Now passed down to the son, our aim was to honor this legacy while refreshing and renovating the space to introduce a breath of modernity, minimalism, and bring the character of the son into the design. Our design approach focused on creating a minimal and clean space that respects the shop’s historical roots while incorporating contemporary elements to reflect the new owner's personality.
The client requested a modern and open space, free of clutter, focusing on practicality and flexibility. Our design aimed to meet these requirements while maintaining the shop’s historical charm. We introduced a steel rail system mounted on the wall, running around the shop's perimeter. This innovative solution allows for variously sized mirrors and shelving to be easily hung and moved as needed, offering unparalleled flexibility and practicality.
By keeping the space free from unnecessary clutter and using very few materials, we ensured the shop remains open and inviting. This minimalistic approach allows for easy maintenance and keeps the focus on the barbering experience. Furthermore, the design maximizes the limited space available, ensuring that two barbers can work comfortably without feeling cramped. The layout is thoughtfully planned to provide ample room for movement and efficient workflow.
Finally, to honor the shop’s rich history, we dedicated a corner to display legendary photos of famous people who have visited the store over the years. These photos are framed in traditional wooden frames, adding a nostalgic touch and providing a traditional outlet within the contemporary design.
